2. Review and Finalize Your Academic Plan

As you approach graduation, it is important to ensure that your remaining courses align with your degree requirements.

Course availability and enrollment arrangements may vary by semester. Always consult the latest Course Memo and relevant university announcements when planning your remaining courses.

3. Review Your Graduation Requirements

Before your final semester, review your academic record carefully to ensure that you understand the requirements for completing your degree.

  • Check your academic progress: Review your completed courses, credit hours, and outstanding degree requirements.
  • Identify any gaps: Determine whether you still need to complete particular courses, prerequisites, electives, or other applicable requirements.
  • Seek clarification where needed: Consult an Academic Advisor if you are uncertain about your academic plan or the courses required to complete your degree.
  • Understand the graduation process: Familiarize yourself with the official graduation application process, eligibility criteria, and announced deadlines.
  • Plan for timely completion: Address potential issues as early as possible to reduce the risk of delays in completing your degree.

Please note that your academic record and the applicable official degree requirements should be used to assess your individual progress towards graduation.

4. Prepare for Postgraduate Studies and Professional Qualifications

If you are considering postgraduate education or a professional qualification, your senior year is an opportunity to research your options and plan ahead.

Postgraduate studies

  • Research graduate and professional programmes that align with your academic background and future goals.
  • Review admission requirements, application deadlines, tuition fees, and available funding opportunities.
  • Identify any required entrance examinations, such as the GRE or GMAT, depending on the programme.
  • Prepare your application materials, including your CV, personal statement, academic transcripts, and recommendation letters, where required.
  • Approach potential academic referees well in advance and provide them with sufficient information about your goals and application timelines.

Professional qualifications

If a professional qualification is relevant to your intended career, research its eligibility requirements, examination structure, exemptions, costs, and time commitment. Students considering qualifications related to accounting, finance, or other specialized fields should consult the relevant professional body for the most current information.

5. Prepare for the GMAT, GRE, or Other Required Entrance Examinations

If your intended postgraduate programme requires an entrance examination, plan your preparation according to the programme's admission requirements and application deadlines.

  • Confirm which examination is required by your prospective institution.
  • Review the examination format, registration process, available test dates, and score requirements.
  • Develop a realistic preparation schedule that accommodates your academic workload.
  • Explore independent study, preparation courses, or group study based on your learning preferences.
  • Allow sufficient time for preparation and, if necessary, a retake before your application deadlines.

Not all postgraduate programmes require the GMAT or GRE. Always verify the requirements of the institutions and programmes you intend to apply to before registering for an examination.
