I’m Mehak, a Senior at SDSB majoring in Management Sciences, and as your Peer Ambassador, I’m so excited to welcome you to the LUMS community. I know starting university can feel overwhelming, but trust me, you’ll soon find your place here. From late-night conversations at the Khoka to study sessions at IST, spontaneous plans, new friendships, and everything in between, you’ll find yourself enjoying every bit of the journey.

My biggest piece of advice is to not put too much pressure on yourself to have everything figured out from day one. Take your time, try new things, meet new people, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Welcome to SDSB! First off, take a breath and give yourself some credit. Getting here is a huge deal, and you should be genuinely proud of it.

I won't sugarcoat it: LUMS will challenge you. There will be heavy course loads, endless case studies, and moments where you feel completely out of your depth. But that’s only half the story. The other half is found in the post-midterm debriefs at PDC, late-night discussions that turn into lifelong friendships, and a community of people who will constantly push you to grow.

If I could give you one piece of advice starting out, it’s this: don't feel like you have to figure everything out in your first term. Give yourself room to make mistakes, try things outside your comfort zone, and reach out when you need a hand. Everyone here has stood in your shoes, feeling that exact mix of excitement and nerves.

Work hard, make time for the fun stuff, and build a routine that keeps you grounded. We’re so glad to have you here, make these four years count!

Welcome to LUMS, and congratulations on making it here. I am Nashwa Afzaal, your PAL and an Accounting & Finance student at SDSB. Right now, you are probably feeling a mix of excitement, curiosity and maybe even a little nervousness. I know I did too. Starting university means stepping into something completely new and it is okay if everything feels unfamiliar at first. Give yourself time. Before you know it, the places that seem confusing today will become familiar, strangers will become friends and LUMS will start to feel like home.
As your PAL, I want you to know that you will always have someone in your corner. Whether you have questions about academics, campus life, societies, or you are simply having a tough day and need someone to talk to, I hope you will feel comfortable reaching out. No question is too small and you never have to feel like you are figuring things out alone. My only advice is to be open to every experience that comes your way. Say hello to new people, take chances and allow yourself to grow. Some of the most meaningful moments at LUMS come when you least expect them.

My name is Eisha Gul and I am a Management Science major. I will be your PAL for this year and I'm very excited to welcome you all to LUMS!

The transition from school to university can feel challenging, both in terms of academics and your personal life. However, I am here to help you navigate through all of that and I am sure that together, we'll be able to make your time at this university one you look back upon fondly for the years to come. My advice to you is to try and create a sense of balance in your life, be open to opportunities and explore all that LUMS has to offer. Most importantly though, remember to not be too hard on yourself. It all works out in the end :)

Hi! I’m Farwa Hamid, a senior in the Management Sciences program, and I’ll be your PAL. My goal is simple: to make your transition into LUMS smoother, more enjoyable, and to remind you that you never have to navigate it alone.

LUMS is much more than academics. It’s a place where you’ll discover your passions, build lifelong friendships, develop your skill set, expand your network, and most importantly, discover yourself. Growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone, and while that can be scary, it’s also where the best opportunities lie.

I like to think of myself as your enzyme: someone who helps make the process a little easier and a lot more fun. Whether you’re confused about academics, societies, internships, campus life, or simply need someone to talk to, I’m always here to help.

I believe every dream is built on the 3 Cs: Courage, Consistency, and Commitment. So don’t be afraid to take chances and embrace every opportunity that comes your way.

Hello everyone, and congratulations on making it to the LUMS Class of 2030! I'm Rijaa Farrukh, a senior at SDSB majoring in Management Sciences, and I'll be one of your PALs this year. I know starting university can feel both exciting and a little intimidating, but trust me these next four years will be some of the most memorable and transformative ones of your life. If there's one piece of advice I'd give you, it would be to not compare your journey to anyone else's. Everyone settles in at a different pace, so take your time, stay open to new experiences, and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. The next few years will probably surprise you in ways you don't expect. Some of the things you think matter now won't matter as much a semester from now, and some of the best parts of university will happen completely unplanned. So don't put too much pressure on yourself to have everything figured out from day one. And if you ever need advice, reassurance, or just someone to talk to or answer your questions, I'm always happy to help. I can't wait to meet all of you and once again, welcome to LUMS!

I'm Laila Ismail, a junior majoring in Accounting and Finance at SDSB, and I'm really excited to be your Peer Ambassador this year. Welcome to LUMS!

I still remember how overwhelming my first few weeks at university felt. There were so many questions, from finding classrooms and choosing courses to figuring out societies and adjusting to hostel life. Looking back, having seniors who were willing to answer even the smallest questions made a huge difference, and I'm hoping to be that person for you.

A little about me: I'm originally from Dera Ghazi Khan, and over the past two years I've been actively involved in campus life. I've served as an Orientation Deputy, worked with the LUMS Entrepreneurial Society, Radio LUMS, and the LUMS Community Service Society, and I also enjoy tutoring students. Outside of academics, I love meeting new people, trying new cafés, and having long conversations over chai.

Whether you need help navigating university life, choosing courses, finding opportunities, or simply want someone to talk to when things feel overwhelming, please know that you can always reach out to me. No question is too small, and I'd much rather you ask than spend days worrying about it.

Like many freshmen, I came to LUMS excited but also overwhelmed. Over time, I realized that some of the most valuable conversations happened outside the classroom. First of all, congratulations. You’ve earned your place here, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself. A few years ago, I was sitting exactly where you are now, excited, nervous, and wondering what the next four years would hold. Looking back as a senior, I can confidently say that LUMS has been one of the most rewarding, challenging, and transformative experiences of my life.

I'm Urooj Qaiser, a senior in the Management Science program at SDSB. My role as a PAL isn't just to answer your questions; it's to make sure you always have someone you can reach out to, whether you need academic guidance, campus advice, or simply someone who understands what you're going through.
If there’s one thing I’d tell my first-year self, it would be this: don’t compare your journey to others. Everyone grows at their own pace, so focus on learning, improving, and becoming the best version of yourself.

Work hard in your classes, but don’t let your CGPA define your experience. Explore beyond the classroom, join societies, take on new challenges, build connections, and embrace opportunities that help you grow. Some of your best memories and biggest lessons will come from unexpected experiences.

Hi! I’m Zarwah Yousaf, an Accounting and Finance major at the Suleman Dawood School of Business. As your PAL, I am excited to welcome you to LUMS and be a part of your experience here.
Two years ago, joining LUMS marked an exciting new chapter for me. However, along with that excitement came the uncertainty of stepping into a completely new academic environment. Entering a field that was unfamiliar to me was a significant transition, and I often wondered whether I would be able to adapt and succeed. Looking back, I am humbled to say that reaching where I am today, both academically and personally, has been shaped by consistent effort, a willingness to step outside my comfort zone, and the support of the incredible people around me. My family, friends, professors, peers, and the wider LUMS community played an invaluable role in helping me build confidence in my abilities and grow in a discipline that once felt unfamiliar.
This experience has shown me the importance of having someone who can make a new environment feel more approachable, and I hope to be that person for you. Hi everyone! My name is Shawaiz, and I'm so excited to be returning as a PAL for my second year. Being a PAL has honestly been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my college journey so far, and I couldn't be more thrilled to take on this role again.

Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to guide and support a group of freshman students as they navigated their first year on campus. Watching them grow in confidence, form friendships, and find their footing was such a rewarding experience, it reminded me why this role means so much to me. This year, I'm looking forward to building on that experience and creating even stronger connections with the new group of freshmen I'll be working with.

Being a PAL isn't just about showing new students around campus or answering their questions, it's about being a genuine source of support, encouragement, and mentorship during a time that can feel overwhelming. It's also given me an amazing opportunity to develop my own leadership skills, learn how to communicate effectively, and grow as someone others can rely on.

I know first-hand just how overwhelming those first few weeks at LUMS can feel. From navigating the Zambeel course enrollment rush and figuring out the best instructors during add/drop, to managing class participation (if you are not familiar with it, you'll know soon enough what it means trust me :p) while still making time for society recruitment and campus hangout, there is a lot to take in!

During my freshman year, I was blessed to have an amazing PAL who helped me find my footing through all the OWeek madness and beyond. My goal is to pay that forward and be that exact same support system for you. If there's one thing I hope you remember, it's this: it's completely okay to feel lost, to make mistakes, or even to fail sometimes. Almost everyone around you will experience those moments, even if it doesn't seem like it. What truly matters is knowing when to ask for help and having the courage to do so. For me, asking for help was one of the hardest things to learn, but it also opened the door to incredible friendships, meaningful opportunities, and lessons I'll carry long after graduation.

While your GPA and academics are important, don't let them become the only measure of your university experience. Some of your most cherished memories will come from late-night conversations, society events, random campus walks, and the people you'll meet along the way. Four years from now, you'll remember the friendships you built and the experiences that shaped you just as much as the grades you earned.

Welcome to LUMS, and congratulations on making it to one of Pakistan's finest universities! You have every reason to be proud of this achievement.

I'm Ali Hammad, a senior in Management Science and your PAL. I'll be here to support you academically and socially as you navigate your freshman year.

If there's one piece of advice I'd give, it's this: prioritize your academics. Your GPA matters, and the habits you build now will stay with you long after graduation. At the same time, don't let your university experience be limited to the classroom. Join clubs and societies, meet new people, step outside your comfort zone, and embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. Some of your greatest lessons will come from experiences beyond lectures.

LUMS won't always be easy. There will be moments that challenge, exhaust, and overwhelm you, but those moments will shape you into a stronger, more capable person. Four years from now, you'll leave as someone very different from the person arriving today.

Most importantly, be kind. Be the friend people can rely on, the student who stays curious, and the person others remember for their character. Build meaningful relationships with your peers and faculty, and never hesitate to ask for help, as you are never alone here.

Hello and congratulations, Class of 2030!

I'm Muntaha Fatima, a rising senior pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Accounting & Finance at SDSB, LUMS. First of all, congratulations on making it here! I know this is an exciting milestone, but I also know it can feel a little overwhelming. When I first joined LUMS, I remember looking around and feeling like everyone else had everything figured out while I was still trying to find my footing. If you ever feel that way, know that you're not alone. You earned your place here just as much as everyone else, and you are every bit as capable.

My biggest piece of advice is to take things one day at a time. Don't feel pressured to have your entire university journey planned from day one. Explore new opportunities, meet new people, and allow yourself the time to grow. Some of your best memories will come from stepping outside your comfort zone, and on the days that feel a little heavy, a chai break with your friends at Khokha can honestly make everything feel a little better.

As your PAL, I'm here to make your transition to LUMS as smooth as possible. Whether you have questions about academics, enrollment, societies, or simply need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to reach out. The next few years are going to hand you more opportunity than you might expect, so it's worth thinking early about what you actually want out of this experience. Set your goals, build your expectations, and have some sense of what you're working toward, because direction matters, especially in the beginning.

At the same time, I want you to know that things won't always go according to plan. You'll have semesters that don't go the way you hoped, decisions you second guess, and moments where the path feels unclear, and that's completely okay. Personal growth rarely follows a straight line, and some of your most important lessons will come from the detours rather than the plan itself.

Beyond the classroom, LUMS has so much to offer. Between the societies, the people you'll meet, the late night conversations, and the challenges that push you outside your comfort zone, you'll find yourself growing in ways you can't fully imagine right now. Don't let academics be the only story of your time here!

Hey everyone! I am Muhammad Omer Daraz, an SDSB ACF senior, and I am really excited to be your PAL this year. I'm someone who loves meeting new people, so my door is always open if you need help, have a random question, or just want to talk. When I'm not busy with coursework, I'm probably playing snooker or obsessing over some geeky rabbit hole.

This is my second time being a PAL, which means I've experienced university from both sides. I know exactly how confusing and overwhelming the first few weeks can feel because I've been through it myself, and I've also seen what new students usually struggle with. Whether it's academics, campus life, societies, or just adjusting to everything, I'm always happy to help. Stepping onto campus for the very first time is an absolute rush; it’s exciting, a little nerve-wracking and filled with endless possibilities. As an MGS senior minoring in Comp. Finance (hopefully) and more importantly your PAL, I want you to know that whatever you’re feeling right now, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
LUMS is so much more than just classes and assignments, it’s an emotional journey. It’s a place where you’ll grow in ways you didn't expect, challenge yourself and make memories that stay with you forever. Hi! I’m Zannirah Rehman, a junior majoring in Management Sciences, and I’m excited to be serving as a Comm Tutor this year. I understand that communication at SDSB, whether it involves speaking up in class, organising your thoughts clearly, or presenting in front of an audience, can feel daunting at first. Through my experience in various public speaking spaces, including the LUMS HNMUN travelling team, I have learned that confidence and effective communication grow through preparation, practice, and the right support. As your Comm Tutor, I hope to create a friendly and judgement-free space where you can work on structuring your ideas, improving your delivery, preparing for presentations, and becoming more comfortable expressing yourself.
